Johnson County Community College Fall 1994 Enrollment Report.
Johnson County Community Coll., Overland Park, KS. Office of Institutional Research.
This report from Johnson County Community College (JCCC) contains detailed fall enrollment data as of the 20th day of the fall semester. The data are considered a benchmark for reporting demographic information about students and assessing the number of students enrolled at JCCC and the percentage attending full-time. The report provides tables, graphs, and narrative summaries focusing on student characteristics in fall 1990 compared to fall 1994; historical enrollment trends; enrollment characteristics by age; and enrollment characteristics by entry status and enrollment status. Selected findings include the following: (1) headcount enrollment at JCCC for fall 1994 was 15,035, an increase of over 9% from fall 1990; (2) while the majority of students attended JCCC part-time (69%), full-time students accounted for over half of all credit hours (54%); (3) freshmen accounted for 54% of total enrollment in fall 1994, down from 56% in fall 1990; (4) while the number of minority students attending JCCC remained small in absolute terms, enrollments of several ethnic groups saw marked increases between 1990 and 1994; (5) courses in math, English, and biology accounted for one-third of total student credit hours in fall 1994; (6) between 1987 and 1993, full-time headcount grew at a faster rate than part-time headcount; (7) female students first outnumbered male students in fall 1976, and continued to outnumber them since that time; (8) traditional aged students (age 18-23) accounted for nearly 55% of total student credit hours, but less than half (42%) of total headcount; (9) nearly 38% of new students were first-time college students; and (10) nearly 64% of degree/certificate-seeking students, and more than half of the transfer-oriented students were attending part-time.
