Directory of Faculty Contracts and Bargaining Agents in Institutions of Higher Education. Volume 21.
Annunziato, Frank R.
This report presents information and statistical data on higher education faculty contracts and bargaining agents in the U.S. The report lists, for each institution of higher education, the bargaining agent, unit size, year current agent was elected, initial contract date, number of campuses, and contract expiration date. The report also lists similar information for adjunct faculty contracts and bargaining agents, graduate employee bargaining agents, and faculty collective bargaining at Canadian universities. Tables present data on: (1) recognized faculty bargaining agents, public and private; (2) faculty bargaining agents in two-year and four-year institutions; (3) faculty collective bargaining agreements; (4) faculty and campuses represented by certified bargaining agents; (5) geographic distribution of unionized faculty; (6) bargaining agents by state; (7) decertifications; (8) institutions affected by the "Yeshiva" decision; (9) college closings; (10) status of public sector collective bargaining legislation; (11) merged bargaining agents; and (12) "no-agent" votes from 1971 to 1994. The report indicates that increases in the number of unionized faculty members and bargaining agents occurred during 1994, with 502 bargaining agents on 1,075 campuses representing 242,221 professors, a growth of 3.2 percent from 1993.
