The Women's Caucus Report, Summer/Fall 1993, Issue Number 52.
Gaudelius, Yvonne, Ed.
This report contains the minutes of the National Art Education Association (NAEA) Women's Caucus Business Meeting held May 2, 1992 at the NAEA National Art Education Convention in Phoenix, Arizona. The issue highlights the Women's Caucus Awards, presented April 4, 1993 in Chicago, Illinois. A description of these awards and the nomination procedures is given. An acceptance speech by Alice Schwartz Mattil, recipient of a June King McFee award, is preceded by an introduction given by Kathy Connors. A second recipient of this award, Enid Zimmerman, is introduced by Mary Stokrocki. Mattil's speech, and Zimmerman's speech, "The Ordinary and Extraordinary: Stories from the Heart" are autobiographical pieces, as is "Glimpses of Past, Present, and Future" (Elizabeth Garber). The latter, is a speech given by Garber on acceptance of the Mary Rouse award. Other articles are: "Judith Dierkes Exhibits in Knoxville"; "Report Editor Resigns: Yvonne Gaudelius To Become New Editor"; "Briefing Paper: Responding to the Recognizing Excellence Agenda" (Kristin Congdon); "Delegates Assembly Report: Chicago April 1-2, 1993"; "A Proposal to Change the Title Women's Caucus to The Caucus on Gender Issues"; "'Women in the Arts Day' in Tennessee"; and "Dr. Pearl Greenberg Retired: Scholarship Fund Begun". Two book reports are given by Sharon Kesterson Bollen on "Breaking the Rules: Audrey Flack: A Retrospective 1950-1990," by Thalia Gouma-Peterson, editor; and "The Voices of Women Artists" by Wendy Slatkin, editor. A list of the National Art Education Association Women's Caucus 1993-94 Executive Board members, coordinators, and representatives is given along with their addresses and phone numbers. This issue also contains several photographs of Women's Caucus members and award recipients. (MM)
