Consisting primarily of graphs and tables, this report provides longitudinal data on degrees and certificates conferred by the University and Community College System of Nevada (UCCSN) from 1980 to 1993 and the characteristics of their recipients. Data are presented on degrees conferred by the entire system, by subject area, and by campus. For the system-wide and campus sections, data provided include degrees by institution, discipline, gender, racial or ethnic group, and subject area. Report highlights include the following: (1) 5,365 certificates and degrees were awarded during 1992-93, with 55% of these bachelor's degrees, 23% associate degrees, and 16% master's degrees; (2) 56.3% of degrees were awarded to females, a 9.7% increase since 1980; (3) 59% of doctorates and 63% of professional degrees were earned by males; (4) 81% of degrees conferred in 1993 were earned by Whites, 3.7% by Hispanics, 3.2% by Blacks, 3.1% by Pacific Islanders, and 0.8% by Native Americans or Alaskan Natives; (5) 14.8% of the degrees awarded to minority students were certificates, followed by the 13.2% associate degrees; (6) 26% of the degrees awarded were in business management, 17% were in humanities, 15% in social and behavioral sciences, 14% in education, 12% in science and technology, and 11% in health professions; and (7) in 1980, more degrees were awarded in health (16%), education (17%), and science and technology (14%) than in 1993, while fewer degrees were awarded in business and management (22%) and the humanities (13%).
