Using Technology in Missouri Schools--A Planning Guide.
Missouri State Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education, Jefferson City.
One of the goals of the Outstanding Schools Act of 1993 is to expand the use of technology in Missouri's public schools by authorizing grants to help in the acquisition of new technology and by earmarking funds for professional development activities. The aim of this guide is to assist school districts that are in various stages of providing technology for students and staff by offering ideas and suggestions that will help schools develop effective, long-range plans for using technology in all aspects and levels of education. The step-by-step suggestions include the following stages of planning: selecting a well-rounded technology committee; determining the district's mission statement regarding technology; assessing the current status of technology in the district; analyzing data to make recommendations; establishing short- and long-range plans; developing a technology action plan; and implementing and evaluating the technology action plan. A list of Missouri school districts that contributed plans and ideas to the guide, and their respective contacts, is provided. Contains eight references. (MAS)
