These include money from government agencies, private industry, and not-for-profit foundations. This chapter looks at types of external funding, and offers application hints. It also details 11 specific fellowship opportunities providing information on administrative agency, address, deadlines, month of notification, number of awards, average number of applicants, amount, application form, purpose and restrictions, length of award, eligibility, application requirements, and comments and advice. Subsequent chapters follow this format offering general information on a category of aid and specific information on particular programs.
