NAASS. The First Thirty Years, 1964-1993.
Abraham, Nancy
This report provides a history of the North American Association of Summer Sessions (NAASS), founded in 1964 to bring together the deans and directors of American, Canadian, and Mexican university summer programming. The report examines the circumstances leading to the association's founding, its early development, and major programs and activities. It provides excerpts of past NAASS presidents' acceptance speeches and messages to the membership, along with the recollections and reminiscences of past presidents and honorary life members. The report describes the historical role of the NAASS's administrative council, committees, executive secretary, regional organizations, public relations, annual conferences, and workshops. Joint ventures with other organizations are also examined. Twenty-one appendixes provide additional information on the NAASS's founding, financial status, annual expenditures, officers, committees, membership, statistical reports, newsletters, annual conferences, awards, constitution and by-laws.
