This federally mandated report describes Fiscal Year 1993 activities of the National Council on Disability, which provides leadership in the development and evaluation of disability policy. The report states the mission of the Council and names of its members and staff. It provides synopses of research conferences, news conferences, testimony before Congress, and liaison with federal and international agencies. Recommendations from six reports published by the Council in 1993 are provided. The six reports concern the following: (1) implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act; (2) the unique needs of minorities with disabilities; (3) financing assistive technology; (4) access to health insurance; (5) the impact of elementary and secondary education programs and special education for children with disabilities; and (6) wilderness accessibility.
