This publication compiles a series of 18 articles originally published in 1989-91 in the Arithmetic Teacher on implementing the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) K-8 curriculum standards. The articles and references in the bibliography are organized into five groupings: (1) "Themes That Cut Across Mathematics," covering the topics of problem solving, communication, reasoning, connections, and assessment; (2) "Number," covering the topics of number representation, number sense, estimation, operations, computation, fractions, and decimals; (3) "Space and Dimension," covering the topics of geometry, spatial sense, and measurement; (4) "Data Collection and Interpretation," covering the topics of statistics and probability; and (5) "Patterns, Relations, Functions, and Algebra," focusing on pre-algebraic ideas and informal algebra. An annotated bibliography of Arithmetic Teacher articles relating to the NCTM Curriculum and Evaluation Standards contains 125 citations. (MKR)
