Mathematics Teacher Resource Handbook. A Practical Guide for K-12 Mathematics Curriculum.
Dolan, Dan, Ed.; And Others
This handbook is one of a series of practical references for curriculum developers, education faculty, veteran teachers, and student teachers. The handbook is designed to provide basic information on the background of mathematics curriculum, and current information on publications, standards, and special materials for K-12 mathematics. Part 1 contains six chapters on curriculum development: trends in school mathematics, a step-by-step description of curriculum process and design, lists of programs studying or developing curriculum, topics in the K-12 mathematics curriculum, descriptions of statewide frameworks, and lists of curriculum guides by state departments of education and their publication titles. Part 2 contains four chapters on curriculum guides and supplementary materials: methods of assessing mathematics curriculum effectiveness, a selection of recommended curriculum guides, a source list for special projects, and a list of recommended trade books. Part 3 includes an annotated list of curriculum material producers, a list of mathematics textbooks adopted by each state, and an index to reviews of mathematics textbooks. An appendix contains a reprint of "Add-Ventures for Girls: Building Math Confidence." (MDH)
