Japanese as a Second Language. A Preliminary Bibliography of Learning Resources.
Alberta Dept. of Education, Edmonton. Language Services Branch.
This list of learning resources (LRs) for Alberta Educators contains a range of print and nonprint learning materials for students and teachers of the Japanese language. The resources include standard student texts, audiovisual materials, student and teacher references, computer software, and other LR media. The list is intended to guide teachers in the selection of student and instructional material for the teaching and learning of Japanese as a second language at the secondary level. The materials cover a variety of instructional approaches, from a focus on functional competencies to content-based instruction and language learning units of study. Resources have been categorized as "basic" and "support." Basic resources are those that address most of the learner expectations in a Japanese language course or are the most appropriate LRs for meeting general learner expectations across two or more grade levels. Support resources are those that assist in addressing some of the learner expectations of a course of study, or assist in meeting the learner expectations across two or more grade levels. Most of the LRs listed are Japanese publications and are presented entirely in a Japanese context. (AA)
