Incentive Pay for School Administrators. ERS Report.
Educational Research Service, Arlington, VA.
This publication provides current data on the various merit and incentive pay plans used for administrator compensation. The report is designed to help school officials as they develop and revise administrative evaluation and compensation procedures in their school districts. School policy bodies that are considering instituting incentive pay programs for administrators can draw on the experience of school systems that have put incentive programs into practice. A letter of request sent to all school district administrators who had indicated the existence of a merit pay or incentive plan for administrators in a national survey of salaries and wages in the public schools elicited 37 usable responses. The description of each plan is presented in its original form; inclusion of a plan does not imply endorsement by the Educational Research Service. (LMI)
