The Business Guide to Publicly-Funded Training and Employment Programs.
National Alliance of Business, Inc., Washington, DC.
This guide provides information on the following topics: services available to help businesses recruit, train, and hire qualified workers; publicly funded programs that provide these services; and where businesses can get more information and help to take advantage of these services. The guide describes many training and employment programs funded by the federal government and by state governments. Programs described in the guide are as follows: the Job Training Partnership Act, the U.S. Employment Service, the Adult Education Act, the National Rehabilitation Act, the Job Opportunities and Basic Skills program, and various state-operated and funded training and employment programs. The booklet is divided into two sections and six appendices. The first section highlights nine publicly funded employment and training services available to businesses, providing general information about the programs and an example of how a company has used the services. The first section also contains a checklist designed to help businesses quickly determine which publicly funded program provides each of the services described. The second section provides additional information about all the programs and contains federal, state, and local agency contact information and program directories that businesses can use to access local programs. Six appendixes include the following: (1) an employer checklist; (2) a resource directory; (3) a list of Employment and Training Administration regional offices; (4) a list of National Alliance of Business regional service offices; (5) information on the National Alliance of Business services for employers; and (6) a bibliography citing 37 resources.
