Science and Technology in School Curricula. Case Study 5: Pakistan.

A series of case studies were undertaken by UNESCO to probe more deeply into the adequacy of science, mathematics, and technology curricula to meet national needs, and their appropriateness in relation to the rapidly-evolving nature of science and technology themselves. This fifth study, from Pakistan, has focused on the following 4 major areas: (1) the place of science, mathematics, and technology in the curricula of primary and secondary schools; (2) the content of the curricula in science, mathematics, and technology and the ground covered in each subject at the end of primary education, and at the end of secondary education; (3) the content of courses in integrated science which are offered to students in secondary schools, as well as a summary of the content of the separate science courses; and (4) the policy of the Ministry of Education on the place of technology education in primary and secondary schools, the resources implied by the policy and efforts that are currently being made to implement it.
