This directory describes 125 programs and services that provide training or employment assistance to women seeking blue-collar jobs in trades and technology. Programs and services, by state, are divided according to their primary focus on training, information and technical services, or outreach. Nineteen selected models of training programs are listed separately at the beginning of the section on training. Information provided for both model and other programs includes the following: program name, administrative agency, address, contact person, contact telephone number, program services, and eligibility. Appendixes, amounting to almost one-half of the directory, contain the following: lists of Women's Bureau regional offices, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training (BAT) regional and state offices, state apprenticeship councils, apprenticeship information centers, Federal Committee on Apprenticeship, Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (regional, district, area offices), Job Corps regional offices, national offices of Joint Labor-Management Apprenticeship and Training Programs, state vocational sex equity coordinators, and state employment service offices; occupations that BAT recognizes as apprenticeable; sample curricula for 14- and 20-week training programs; literacy and employment training program model; glossary; National Tradeswomen's Network addresses; 21 national organizations involved in training or employment assistance; and 120 publications related to women in nontraditional occupations.
