Physical Education Outcomes: Grades K-5. Report of the Task Force To Develop HPERD Program Standards.
American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. Eastern District Association.
These program guidelines, based on the 5-point definition of the physically educated person developed by the National Association for Sports and Physical Education (NASPE), provide reference information to states, school districts, and local schools who seek assistance in developing and maintaining quality programs in physical education. Ten outcomes for physical education, designed to reflect broad areas of development, are identified along with objectives related to psychomotor, cognitive, and/or affective behaviors reflecting possible areas of curricular content by grade level. For each behavioral objective, examples are provided of specific activities from the psychomotor, cognitive or affective domains related to accomplishing the objective. Sample activities are intended to illustrate tasks that can serve as behavioral criteria relative to the accomplishment of the objectives for a particular grade level. The behavioral objectives are designed to provide content progressions both within a specific grade and across sequential grades. (Contains 41 references.) (LL)
