This publication offers a portrait of poverty in San Antonio (Texas) based on an analysis of available statistical data and focusing on health, education, employment, housing, and human services. Chapter 4, "Housing," looks at housing conditions, the federal response to housing conditions, local response to housing conditions among San Antonio's poor, public housing developments, and the homeless. Chapter 5, "Human Services," details Aid to Families with Dependent Children, other income-related public assistance programs, personal social services in San Antonio, barriers to recipient utilization of human services, and funding dilemmas.
