This document describes the restructuring actions taken by the Lake Oswego School District in response to recent state legislation that significantly reduced resources for Oregon education. The first section presents the district's core beliefs, values, and areas of emphasis that define Lake Oswego's vision for 21st century education. Strategic planning principles for phased restructuring in the context of reduced resources are outlined, which integrate knowledge and understanding, skills and processes, and attitudes and attributes. District goals are to restructure and downsize to provide the highest quality educational program and services and the most value for the available resources. The roles of teachers and classified employees in the process are also described. The second section presents the district vision and focus planning documents and offers recommended change strategies. Section 3 highlights the guiding beliefs for different education levels and effective practice documents.
