Kentucky's Learning Goals and Valued Outcomes. Report Summary. Draft.
Kentucky Council on School Performance Standards, Frankfort.
In this report, Kentucky's goals for learning are outlined, in terms that can be assessed. Part 1 provides an overview of events that facilitated the redefinition of statewide learning goals. The second part presents valued outcomes for each of the state's six educational goals: students will apply basic communication and mathematics skills to life situations; apply core concepts and principles from the major disciplines to life experiences; demonstrate self-sufficiency; demonstrate responsible group membership; think and solve problems; and integrate knowledge across disciplines. Charts identify the valued outcome, give examples of how they are demonstrated, and describe benefits to students. The third part describes ways in which assessment, curriculum, and instruction will change. (LMI)
