This notebook presents ideas for and readings about producing a well-organized and efficient school library program. The notebook is divided into 15 major sections, each of which begins with an overview of the topic, continues with practical discussions of different aspects of the topic, and is followed by background readings consisting of new articles. Most of these discussions have appeared as feature articles in "The Book Report" and "Library Talk." A section of helpful hints, drawn from the "Tips & Other Bright Ideas" and "Shoptalk" columns conclude each section. The overall school library management task is divided into the following sections: (1) Goals and Objectives; (2) Evaluation; (3) Public Relations; (4) Selection; (5) Circulation; (6) Processing; (7) Weeding and Inventory; (8) Aides and Volunteers; (9) Budget; (10) Computers; (11) Getting Organized; (12) Discipline; and (13) Overdues Management. The two final sections contain reproducible forms for use by the library media specialist and an extensive annotated bibliography of additional professional resources. (MAB)
