Making the Connections: Public-Private Partnerships in Child Care. National Advisory Panel Exchange #1. Second Edition.
Child Care Action Campaign, New York, NY.
This publication profiles public-private partnerships formed to improve the quality and availability of child care. It contains updated information on partnerships profiled by the Child Care Action Campaign (CCAC) in an earlier publication. An introductory section defines public-private partnerships and examines their relevance to child care concerns; discusses the financing of partnerships and the different perspectives of corporate and state leaders; and lists the factors critical to a successful public-private venture. The bulk of the report consists of profiles of 20 public-private partnerships in 18 states. Each profile identifies the name, location, and chief sponsors of the partnership and the type of service offered; provides background information on the origin of the partnership's program; describes the design, current status, and funding of the program sponsored by the partnership; and lists local contacts. Appendixes include a description of current trends in employer supported day care and a list of members of the CCAC National Advisory Board. A seven-item bibliography is provided. (BC)
