This curriculum guide provides instructional materials for the firearms training phase of a private security training course of study. The seven units in the course cover the following topics: safety; revolver nomenclature and maintenance; inspecting revolvers and holsters; fundamentals of revolver shooting; legal issues and deadly force; range procedures and tower commands; and revolver qualification. Three additional units are presented for an optional shotgun course: shotgun nomenclature and maintenance; fundamentals of shotgun shooting; and shotgun familiarization. Each unit of instruction is composed of some or all of these components: objective sheet with introduction and unit and specific objectives; suggested activities with details for preparation and delivery; a list of references; information sheets; assignment sheets; and assignment sheet answer keys. A multiple-choice safety test covers the information presented in units one and six only. (YLB)
