The full National Education Goals Report is a 246-page annual "report card" to the nation designed to focus on measurement: How well are we measuring up against the six national Goals? This 25-page executive summary is a companion document to the full report and attempts to compress its major findings. It is structured into three parts: (1) Part 1 lists each of the goals and states succinctly "What we now know" and "What we still need to know" about each. The report on each goal is accompanied by a single statistical figure graphically displaying the major known data. (2) Part 2 presents important additional information (textual and statistical) related to achieving the six National Education Goals and their associated objectives; (3) Part 3 is a statement concerning "The Federal Role" in achieving the Goals and includes a pie chart depicting the proportion of 1991 Federal resources allotted to programs that improve education/services during the preschool years, school years, and post high school years.
