Dissemination of the Project's Findings: National Seminar (7th, Greece, Delphi, September 19-23, 1988). The CDCC's Project No. 8: "Innovation in Primary Education."
The seminar reported in this document drew on the findings of Project No. 8 of the Council of Europe's Council for Cultural Cooperation in an effort to determine priorities for making improvements in Greek primary education. Other objectives were to familiarize educators and administrators with new primary school curricula and the project's findings regarding methods and means. About 300 pedagogical advisers, administrative officials, and teachers from various regions in Greece attended. This report provides the texts of presentations and reports on group discussions. Lectures concerned the chief messages of Project No. 8 concerning innovation in primary education, school improvement from within, the role of head teachers in innovation in primary schools, and innovation in Bulgarian primary schools. Reports on group discussions concerned innovation and school improvement and the role of the head teacher in innovation. Addresses on new primary school programs dealt with the institution and implementation of new curricula, foreign language teaching, physical education, remedial teaching, and new curricula for music teaching. Final remarks of the General Rapporteur and appended materials consisting of the seminar agenda, questions for discussion, and a participants list, conclude the report. (RH)
