Professional Development Guidelines for Elementary School Counselors. A Self-Audit.
American School Counselor Association. Alexandria, VA.
This self-audit for elementary school counselors is one-third of a three-part project sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). The manual is divided into five separate and interrelated sections, designed for program and individual counselor self-evaluation: (1) Philosophy and Policies of the Counseling Program; (2) Program Development and Implementation; (3) Role and Function of the Elementary School Counselor; (4) Specialized Populations in Counseling; and (5) Professional Development. Included in each section are basic principles and specific questions that provide an opportunity to appraise the counseling process. Space is provided for summarizing areas that need strengthening, and also for outlining plans for implementing change.
