These proceedings of a conference on corporate programs that support urban educational reform include 11 papers that focus on the importance of education and academic achievement to the business community, and the need for a national political agenda to promote urban school reform. The following presentations describe existing enrichment programs that approach school reform in close cooperation with local communities: (1) "What Phillip Morris Is Doing" (G. L. Knox, III); (2) "What Proctor & Gamble Is Doing" (R. L. Wehling); (3) "What U S WEST Is Doing" (J. J. Prancan); and (4) "What Pacific Telesis Is Doing" (T. S. Donahoe). The following presentations describe plans to speed the rate of school reform: (1) "What Is Planned by Citibank" (P. M. Ostergard); (2) "What Is Planned by Union Carbide Corporation" (N. W. Deibler); and (3) "What Is Planned by National Business Organizations" (F. S. Edelstein). The following presentations discuss what is needed to ensure education reform from a variety of perspectives: (1) "A Teacher/Union Leader's Perspective" (A. Shanker); (2) "A Superintendent's Perspective" (P. McWalters); (3) "An Executive's Perspective" (A. S. Alexander); and (4) "A Legislator's Perspective" (G. K. Hart).
