One on One: A Guide for Establishing Mentor Programs.

This guide to developing and implementing mentor programs in local communities contains three sections. The first section examines why mentor programs are needed and what being a mentor involves. The second section includes guidelines for developing and implementing mentor programs. The first subsection covers the first stages of program development. Subsequent subsections cover the processes of coordinating program planning, assessing needs and resources, developing the program's goals and objectives, recruiting volunteers, selecting and training mentors, keeping track of the relationship with proteges, working with parents, matching mentors and young people, keeping mentors in the program, dealing with obstacles to success, and evaluating the program.
