Technical Assistance and Reinforcement for Teachers Implementing a Thinking Skill Model.
A fourth grade teacher in an accredited parochial school implemented and evaluated a 10-week practicum intervention designed to improve nine elementary school teachers' understanding of terminology related to thinking skills and to increase their integration of thinking skills processes into the curriculum. Thinking skills addressed were productive thinking, communication, forecasting, decision making, and planning. Technical assistance was offered in five in-service meetings. The 5-week schedule was designed to enable the modeling and evaluation of the thinking skills at each grade level. Each participating teacher received a Manual of Thinking Skill Terminology. Evaluation data indicated that practicum objectives were attained. Appendices provide survey, observation, and self-evaluation instruments, and the manual of thinking skill terminology. (RH)
