Redovich, Dennis W.
This fact book on Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) provides data tables, charts, and graphs on campus size, class size, college revenue, faculty and staff characteristics, full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollments, student background and characteristics, districtwide enrollments, campus enrollments, the district population, MATC and state vocational enrollments, and results of a 1990 survey of MATC students. Highlighted findings include the following: (1) throughout the 1980's MATC enrollments were directly proportional to the local unemployment rate; (2) from academic year 1980-81 to 1990-91, total minority enrollment increased by 45.8%, with Hispanics more than doubling their enrollment, Asians increasing by 96%, Black enrollment increasing by 30.4%, and American Indian enrollment increasing by 24.6%; (3) since 1981-82, there has been a gradual increase in the median age of students, while the first semester ratio of full-time day students to total students has decreased sharply; (4) evening first semester enrollments have decreased over the last thirteen years with declines at almost all campuses; (5) associate degree FTE has declined since 1982-83 though it is still 11% higher than it was in 1976-77; (6) College Parallel has increased by 61% since 1981-82 and vocational adult education has increased by 185% since 1976-77; (7) total FTE increased by 5.8% between 1988-89 and 1989-90; (8) business, liberal arts, and sciences have made up 60% of total FTE's since 1981-82; (9) in 1989-90, the majority (52.4%) of MATC employees were female; and (10) minority employment at MATC has increased from 15.3% in 1984 to 22.8% in 1990.
