This document consists of the fourth section of a book of readings on issues related to adult career development. The four chapters in this fourth section focus on settings in which adult career development counseling may take place. "Career Planning and Development in Organizations" (Peter Cairo) discusses several concepts and definitions relevant to the understanding of career development in organizational settings and presents a brief description of current practices. "Adult Career Development in University Settings: Practical Perspectives" (Dennis Keierleber and L. Sunny Sundal-Hansen) focuses on universities, examining the characteristics of adult students and the philosophy and practices of the university that influence adult students' career and educational development. A conceptual model for career service providers to meet the needs of adults on the campus is included. "Community-Based Adult Career Counseling" (Jane Goodman and Elinor Waters) discusses some of the changing needs of adults for community-based career development programs and identifies some parameters that program planners need to consider in developing their approaches. "Career Counseling Adults in a Community College Setting" (Patricia Haskell and Nancy Wiener) discusses how adult and career development theories can help community college counselors understand and better meet students' needs and notes that limitations of adult career development theories can be exacerbated by the nature and scope of the community college.
