Consumer Education. Performance Objectives and Criterion-Referenced Test Items.

To assist instructors in implementing Missouri's Vocational Instructional Management System into the Consumer Education semester course, this guide sets forth the competencies that were derived from the duties and tasks of the Missouri homemaker and identified and validated by home economics teachers and subject matter specialists. A minimum of two performance objectives per competency are provided. The objectives were developed and validated for the competency by instructors with expertise in the area of consumer education. For each competency one criterion-referenced test item is also provided. Competencies are presented in 14 duty areas: making informed choices; managing family income; meeting personal grooming and clothing needs; meeting transportation needs; meeting housing needs; furnishing and maintaining a home; arranging for professional services; conserving resources; obtaining financial assistance; planning for the future; recognizing the citizen's role in our economy; recognizing careers in consumer education; identifying types of small businesses; and developing leadership through Future Homemakers of America.
