You'll Manage Becoming a Boss...Best Tips [and] A Bibliography.
American Library Association, Chicago, IL.
The comments of 21 library professionals from academic and public libraries on principles of library administration are presented in this guide. The members of the Library Administration and Management middle management discussion group touch upon goal setting in management, getting to know new staff, interpersonal relationships between employee and manager, motivating employees, and getting more from meetings, as well as other issues of concern to managers. Suggestions take the form of: (1) lists of required managerial abilities, skills to acquire, and dos and don'ts; (2) accounts of specific personal experiences of librarians in management situations; and (3) tips relating to broader library administration issues. A 34-item bibliography includes selections supporting each of the topical areas covered in the text. (SD)
