Profile of Georgia Public School Personnel. 1985-1986, 1986-1987, 1987-1988.
Georgia Professional Standards Commission, Atlanta.
This document contains 3 years of factual profile information on the entire Georgia public school work force and forms the contextual framework upon which the complexities affecting teacher supply and demand can be applied and statistically analyzed. Data were aggregated by state totals, by each school year, by field and subject area categories, by gender and age, by years of state experience, and by the individual certification status used for salary purposes. The data are presented and analyzed under four headings: Georgia public school personnel, Georgia public school attrition, Georgia's demographic regions, and certification in Georgia. Descriptive statistics are presented in the form of tables, charts, and narratives. The statistics were compiled to help state planners and administrators address such problems as an aging teaching force, early attrition, and regional teacher shortages in critical academic fields coupled with declining numbers of newly graduated teachers both in Georgia and nationally.
