Business Leadership: The Third Wave of Education Reform. Report of the Conference (New York, New York, February 13, 1989). Research Report No. 933.
Ashwell, Andrew, Ed.; Caropreso, Frank, Ed.
The quality of the U.S. work force is directly affected by the quality of its education. Business involvement in a national education agenda should be considered a necessary investment to foster success in international competition. The 1989 meeting of the Conference Board focused on two aspects of business leadership in education: (1) the effect of institutionalization of educational policy and corporate organization on involvement in educational reform; and (2) the effect of business leadership in selected cities on education coalitions. This collection of talks by 16 leaders in business and education addresses issues in business leadership, the institutionalization of business-education involvement, the improvement of business-education partnerships, the critique of partnerships, and the link between education relations and human resource needs.
