Initiating and Supporting Curriculum Delivery and Implementation: Review of Relevant Literature.

This literature review is one part of a commission to undertake an evaluation of a "Field Study to Determine Teacher and Student Needs Regarding Curriculum Documents and Resources," in order determine the effectiveness of curriculum delivery mechanisms and to identify means for improvement of delivery and implementation. The review is the preliminary information collection of the study. It addresses educational change and the diffusion, adoption, and implementation of innovations; curriculum implementation; and teacher inservice education. Part 1 discusses the application of the diffusion model to facilitating educational change. Part 2 focuses on the need for, definition of, measurement of, and factors affecting implementation; and recommendations for government policies. Part 3 discusses meta-analysis studies, inservice education literature, channels of communication, and preservice teacher education. (155 references) (LMI)
