Social Studies Needs Assessment: Rural vs. Urban.

According to a survey of social studies teachers in small, rural, midwest high schools: (1) social studies curriculum needs of rural students do not differ from those of urban students; (2) cultural aspects of rural and urban societies should be passed on to students by the formal education process; and (3) they incorporated rural-oriented aspects into their curriculum. The statistical treatment revealed that the beliefs of the instructors with rural backgrounds were generally similar to the beliefs of instructors with urban backgrounds.
