Multi-Grouping and Academic Achievement.
Ansah, Viola
A review of selected literature on the relation between multi-grouping and academic achievement suggests that the effectiveness of multigrade classes in reading and mathematics is mixed. Some children seem to benefit from multigrade classes, while others seem to do better in single-grade classes. There was evidence that educators who are faced with declining enrollments are taking another look at ways in which children should be grouped. It is concluded that the advantages and disadvntages of multigrading will continue to be in the forefront of educational issues. (RH)
