Redovich, Dennis W.; And Others
This color coded fact book on Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) provides data tables, charts, and graphs on campus size, class size, college revenue, faculty and staff characteristics, full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollments, student background and characteristics, districtwide enrollments, campus enrollments, the district population, MATC and state vocational enrollments, and results of a 1988 survey of MATC students. Highlighted findings include the following; (1) throughout the 1980s MATC enrollments were directly proportional to the local unemployment rate; (2) from academic year 1980-81 to 1989-90, total minority enrollment increased by 7.6%, with Hispanics more than doubling their enrollment, Asians increasing by 70.3%, Black enrollment increasing by 20.9%, and American Indian enrollment decreasing by 2.9%; (3) after 1981-82, there was a gradual increase in the median age of MATC students; (4) day student first-semester headcounts increased over the last 13 years, while evening first-semester enrollments decreased at almost all campuses; (5) associate degree FTE increased significantly over the past 13 years, representing 53% of the total in 1989; (6) college parallel and vocational adult enrollment increased greatly since 1976-77, while vocational and community service enrollment declined significantly over the same period; (7) all instructional divisions except Agribusiness and Television peaked in FTE enrollment in 1983-84; (8) service occupations were the only programs to show a significant increase (16.2%) from 1981-82 to 1988-89; and (9) in 1988 and 1989, the majority of MATC's employees were females.
