The Information Marketing Concept and the Implementation of National Information Policy (NIP) in Zambia.
Lundu, Maurice C.
This paper describes the purpose of a national information policy in general, the process that led to the formation of such a policy in Zambia, and the requirements for its successful implementation. Particular attention is paid to the concept of information marketing. It is argued that such a concept would be an implementation requirement if properly applied to the current Zambian situation, and that education and training would play a key role. It is suggested that Zambia's current education system lags far behind in the development of individuals capable of processing "dynamic technology," and that, without such individuals, Zambia cannot implement a nation information policy that promotes the marketing of information as a national resource.
