World Perspective Case Descriptions on Educational Programs for Adults: Ireland.

Fifteen adult education programs being conducted in Ireland are described in the case studies in this packet. The courses range from adult basic education to university degree courses in management and industrial relations, from marriage preparation to inservice teacher education. The following programs are profiled: (1) certificate in farming (Hassett); (2) training of community enterprise animateurs (Collins); (3) family life education--premarriage course (McCarthy); (4) Pontifical university diploma in family life and youth ministry (Murphy); (5) extra-mural studies diploma course in drug and alcohol addiction (McCann); (6) extra-mural studies diploma course in adult basic education (Kett); (7) Maynooth Adult Daytime Education; (8) extra-mural studies diploma course in religious studies (Rouine); (9) national television basic course in the Irish language (MacMahon); (10) extra-mural studies diploma course in basic counseling (Conaty); (11) introductory course to educational administration (Diggins); (12) training of part-time adult educators at the local level (Marsden); (13) senior officer continuing education and training program (Moran); (14) teacher training program for facilitators of a post-primary school health education program (Donoghue); and (15) diploma in management and industrial relations (Ryan). Each course description includes contact person, agency conducting the course, target group, content, procedures, problems/successes, evaluation methods, and suggested improvements.
