Theatre Arts Framework, Kindergarten-Grade 12.
Texas Education Agency, Austin.
This framework provides an overview of the Texas fine arts curriculum and a detailed explanation of the theater arts program under recent legislative mandates and Texas State Board of Education rules. The guide is designed to assist elementary and secondary school administrators, supervisors, counselors, teachers, and education service center personnel in evaluating and improving present programs and in providing a foundation for establishing new ones. The guide presents and explains the five major components of theater programs: rationale, scope and sequence, management, teaching strategies, and resources. The teaching strategies cover creative drama, formal theater, linkage with other subjects, teaching toward mastery, special populations, assessment, theater attendance and theater appreciation, play selection and production, contests and festivals, and theater safety.
