Games and Toys in the Teaching of Science and Technology. Science and Technology Education Document Series No. 29.
Lowe, Norman K., Ed.
Toys and games play a large part in the early development of children. This book is a resource document on low-cost, educational activities for children in the primary and early secondary levels of education. Section 1 sets the scene with regard to toys and games as well as to curriculum development trends and activities at the primary level of education. In section 2, examples of 28 games and toys which can be used in the teaching of science and technology are detailed. Suitable grade level, materials required, educational concept/skill, and points for the teacher to consider are described in each example. Some principles that the teacher might consider in using games in the classroom and some comments from the evaluation of games are listed. (YP)
