Intended to assist teachers at all levels and to help students become independent strategic learners, this guide is based on the philosophy that with proper instruction students can understand the reading/learning process and apply this knowledge across the curriculum. Model lessons are suggested for the specific application of strategies appropriate for certain content areas. The guide addresses the need for teachers to view reading and writing as important learning processes across the curriculum and is intended to be the basis for a staff development program.
