Survey of Applicants for Graduation, FY89.

Each year, as Catonsville Community College (CCC) students apply for graduation, they are asked to complete a questionnaire concerning their post-graduation plans and their opinions about their college experience. Results of the survey conducted in 1988-89, based on responses from 799 students, included the following: (1) 78% expected to receive an associate degree, 11% indicated that they would receive both a certificate and an associate degree, and 11% said they would receive a certificate; (2) 50% indicated plans to transfer in the summer or fall to a four-year college; (3) of those planning to transfer, 60% planned to attend part-time and 40% full-time; (4) only 9% did not plan to work; (5) 39% felt their degree would be helpful in getting a full-time job, while 37% thought it would help them change jobs or careers; (6) 44% attended CCC to get a degree, and 33% attended to earn credits for transfer to another school; and (7) 96% rated the overall quality of instruction and 95% rated the overall quality of their college experience as "good" or "excellent." The report includes the graduates' rating of instructors and open-ended comments concerning students' most positive experiences during their stay at CCC. The questionnaire is included. (AJL)
