Teaching about AIDS. High School.
Manitoba Dept. of Education, Winnipeg.
This resource package is designed to: (1) provide factual information to students in three critical areas: what Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is, how it can be transmitted, and how it can be prevented; and (2) provide auxiliary information and strategies for use at the discretion of the high school in a number of disciplines; e.g., guidance, science, biology, home economics, lifestyles. In addition to providing basic factual information in the form of one or more classes, an assembly or audio-visual presentation, the auxiliary information would provide students with an opportunity to face, discuss, and integrate the decisions they must take to avoid high-risk behavior and promote positive lifestyle decisions.
