Never Too Old To Teach.
Murphy, Judith; Florio, Carol
This report describes a wide spectrum of programs that are successfully using older people in education roles. A survey has indicated that older educators are successful, not only as evaluated by the sponsors of educational programs, but also in the eyes of their students. The possibilities are not limited to formal schooling but include service to public libraries, museums, hospitals, government extension services, and senior centers. It is pointed out that older people can be invaluable in helping to alleviate the problem of illiteracy. One of the chapters provides a set of general guidelines for the development of programs that can make use of the resources older people have to offer which may serve the learning needs of individuals and society at large.
