This three-part, long-range planning study was undertaken to assist North Idaho College (NIC) to more effectively meet the educational needs and interests of youth and adults residing in the five county Panhandle Area of Northern Idaho. Part I discusses NIC and its community; presents the results of a study of the educational plans and attitudes of high school seniors in the Panhandle Area; and provides findings from a survey of NIC students to determine their characteristics, educational plans and intentions, reasons for attending NIC, sources of information about NIC, their evaluation of the college, and their programming suggestions. Part II presents the results of a survey of the parents of fifth graders to determine parental aspirations for their children; findings of a survey of the views of community leaders concerning educational needs; information from a survey of the educational and occupational aspirations of high school graduates; results of an employer survey regarding their educational needs; opinions of college faculty concerning needed improvements, instructional methods, and facilities; financial data; an inventory of high school vocational offerings; and a space evaluation study. Part III contains an executive summary of the entire report, including recommendations. (AJL)
