Financial Aid for the Disabled and Their Families, 1988-1989.

Four separate sections comprise this directory: a descriptive list of financial aid programs designed primarily or exclusively for the disabled and their families; a list of state sources of benefits; an annotated bibliography of directories listing general financial aid programs; and a set of five indexes (program title, sponsoring organization, geographic, subject and calendar). Following an introductory section on how to use the directory, the descriptive program list provides more than 500 references and 200 cross-references to a wide variety of financial aid programs (categorized as scholarships, fellowships, loans, grants, awards, and internships) designed primarily or exclusively for the disabled and their families. Each entry provides the organization name, address, telephone number, purpose, eligibility, financial data, duration, number awarded, deadline, special features, and limitations. Entries are grouped under headings for disabilities in general, orthopedic and developmental disabilities, hearing disabilities, visual disabilities, other disabilities, and families of the disabled. State sources of information on benefits are categorized as state financial aids, guaranteed student loan programs, vocational rehabilitation services, developmentally disabled services, and social services. The annotated bibliography of directories provides information on scholarships, fellowships and loans; grants; awards and prizes; internships, work experience programs and on-the-job training opportunities; and special population groups.
