This leader's guide explains the use of a set of 11 companion learning modules for providing staff development for health occupations clinical educators. It is divided into two parts. Part 1 deals with the following aspects of instructor staff development: the need for staff development, instructional leadership, supervision of clinical instruction, evaluation of instruction, and goal setting for effective staff development. The following topics related to implementation of the clinical education modules are covered in part 2: the purpose and content of the modules; their format; staff development using the modules; needs assessment; and planning, conducting, and evaluating staff development. Appendixes include a clinical instructor self-assessment instrument, module planning worksheet, staff development activities, samples of completed clinical instructor self-assessment instrument and module planning worksheets, and a staff development evaluation form.
