Kapiolani 1990: Academic Plan 1985-1990.
Hawaii Univ., Honolulu. Kapiolani Community Coll.
As part of Kapiolani Community College's (KCC's) long-range planning process, major revisions to the academic plan are made every 6 years, following the college's accreditation self-study. The plan for 1985-90 provides a history and description of the college; explains KCC's planning process, mission, and goals; discusses the factors and projections providing the context for the plan; assesses the extent to which KCC implemented the recommendations of a 1979 visiting accreditation team; and identifies 10 priorities for the college over the coming six years. The bulk of the planning document focuses on the priorities, specifying desired outcomes, rationales, and specific planned activities. The priorities are to: (1) complete the new campus at Diamond Head; (2) strengthen and enhance the liberal arts transfer program; (3) maintain vital vocational programs in the face of changing economic conditions; (4) improve students' basic academic skills; (5) establish a student assessment and development program; (6) increase access to KCC's programs through alternative delivery systems; (7) improve the quality of instruction; (8) maintain a high quality faculty and staff; (9) develop more extensive community ties; and (10) implement a comprehensive planning, management, and evaluation system.
